Virginia Ruth Gilsdorf, 67, of Onaga, Kansas, died Monday, October 7, 2019, at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City.  She was a long-time resident of the area.

Virginia was born on January 4, 1952, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Gerald and Gladys Shultz Sperry.  She attended local schools and graduated from high school in Kansas City, Missouri in 1970.  She then attended school to become a dental assistant.

Virginia married Robert Eugene Gilsdorf on April 27, 1985, in Kansas City, Missouri.  He survives at their home.

Following her marriage, Virginia was a homemaker and farm wife, helping with the family operation just east of Onaga.  She was an active member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and the Onaga Weightlifting Club.  She loved to cook and to read, especially her Bible. Virginia also loved working with children and was a Sunday School teacher.  She loved to laugh and spend time with family, she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

Virginia is also survived by her children; Emma Schreiber (Luke), Soldier, and Josh Gilsdorf, Guthrie, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Eleanor, Lincoln, Levi, and Evelyn; and her half-brother, John Sperry.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, October 10, 2019, at the Fellowship Baptist Church.  Pastor Eugene Jennings will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Onaga City Cemetery.  The family will greet friends following the graveside committal at a luncheon at the church.  They suggest memorial contributions to the Onaga Weightlifting Club, and those may be sent in care of Campanella-Kufahl Funeral Home in Wheaton.  Online condolences may be made at www.campanellafuneral.com.
