Robin Lynn Brunk, 30, of Wamego, Kansas, died Monday, April 9, 2018, at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City. She was a life-long resident of the community.
Robin was born November 27, 1987, in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Harland L. and Rexene (Richards) Brunk. She attended local grade schools and graduated in 2006 from Wamego High School.
Robin worked in Customer Service and sales for Ashley Furniture in Manhattan. She had also worked at Applebee's and The Blue Moose in Manhattan. She loved being with her family and friends and caring for her cats, Roxy, George, Charlie and Oliver and her dog, Chewy.
Robin was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. After therapy she was in remission, but then was diagnosed with a rare type of Leukemia. After many treatments and her brother being a match for a successful bone marrow transplant, Robin again was in remission. However, she recently became ill again and was taken to KU Med.
Robin is survived by her son, Tatum L. Velasco, Louisville; her parents, Harland L. and Rexene Brunk, Wamego, her brother Bryan L. Brunk and his wife, Renee; niece and nephew, Hunter L. and Raegen L. Brunk, all of Lenexa; her fiancée, Wesley Rostetter, Manhattan, and Tatum's father, Jo Velasco, Louisville; her maternal grandparents, Paul and Marilee Richards, Paxico and Kenneth Fairchild, Vermillon. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Beverlee Fairchild and paternal grandparents, Harland and Helen Ruth Brunk.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Wamego City Cemetery in Wamego, Kansas. Reverend Pat Green will be officiating.
