Patricia Mary (Ebert) Hund, 86, of Paxico, Kansas, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at her home.  She was a life-long resident of the area.

Patty was born on April 17, 1924, in Wamego, Kansas, the fifth child of ten children born to Gregory and Martina Straub Farrell.  She attended local schools and graduated from Wamego High School.  She then worked during WWII in Wichita for Boeing to raise funds to attend college.  Patty then attended St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth and then St. Francis School of Nursing in Topeka.  She graduated with a degree as a Registered Nurse.

Her nursing career began in Nebraska and then on to Onaga Community Hospital, Golden Acres Nursing Home, Alma Manor, Wamego Hospital, and St. Francis Hospital.   She also did private nursing.   Patty was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Paxico.  She loved to travel and spend time with her grandchildren.

Patty married Yvo “Heavy” Ralph Ebert on April 8, 1946, and settled in Flush, Kansas.  Through this union, they had twelve children; Barbara Turner (Dwight), Waverly, TN, Bill Ebert (Trisha), Redmond, WA, Bernard Ebert (Patty), Topeka, Ralph Ebert, (Maureen) Yuma, CO, Louise Carlin (Chris), Council Grove, Jerry Ebert (Barbara), Topeka, Eddie Ebert (Sue), Wamego, Hal Ebert (Marguerite), Redmond, WA, Kevin Ebert, Carrollton, TX,  Shawn Ebert (Angel), Paxico,  Maureen Adams (Chris), Council Grove, and Greg Ebert (Lisa), Kinsley.

In 1955 Yvo and Patricia moved to Onaga and owned Ebert Motor Company, until his death on July 29, 1963.

On May 3, 1971, Patricia married David Hund and moved to Paxico.  He survives at their home.  David’s eleven children are: Tim Hund (Cindy), Paxico, Mary Johnson (Matt), Topeka, Annette Hiegert (Doug), Paxico, Joe Hund (Connie), Paxico, Alan Hund, New York, NY,  Tom Hund (Diane), St. Joseph, MO, Teresa Wenderott (Jim), McPherson, Matt Hund (Marla), Quebec, Canada, Patrick Hund, Fall City, OR, Loran Hund, Wichita, Janet Hund (Opoku Ware), Long Beach, CA.

Patty was blessed with twenty three children, seventy grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved equally.  She is also survived by four sisters, Jean Barry, Mary Ann Umschied, Mickey Schecher, and Elaine Summers.  She was preceded in death by three grandsons, Casey Carlin, Devin Adams and Justin Ebert; and five brothers, Dennis, Gregory, Coke (Coleman), Tom , and Matt Farrell. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, north of Paxico.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.  Father John Pilcher will be the Celebrant.  The family will greet friends on Friday, at the church, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and a rosary prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m.   They suggest memorial contributions to Sacred Heart Parish Hall Building Fund or St. Damien’s Leprosy Centre (Father Bala’s orphanage in India) and those maybe sent in care of Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego.  Online condolences maybe made at www.campanellafuneral.com.
