Nancy Gail Capoun, 73, of Wamego, Kansas, died, Friday, January 5, 2018, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan. She was a life-long resident of the area.
Nancy was born on June 30, 1944, in Wamego, the daughter of Clifford and Thelma Klien Post. She attended local schools and Wamego High School. She then received a Civil Engineering Certificate for surveying and drafting from Topeka Vo-Tech.
Nancy was most happy as a ranch wife. She loved the ranch and enjoyed working with the calves and riding horses. Nancy had also worked many years as a cook and baker for Derby Hall at Kansas State University. In the early 1980s, she owned and operated the Daylight Donuts in Wamego, and also worked at Lowes in Topeka as a price coordinator. She enjoyed planting and tending flowers, doing craft painting, puzzles and cross stitch. In her earlier years she loved to dance, especially the two step. Nancy loved her family and especially enjoyed family gatherings and any opportunity to spoil her great-grandchildren.
Nancy married Donald Brockish. They had two children. She then married Cliff Sackrider and they had one child. He preceded her in death. Nancy married Gilbert A. Capoun in Alma, on October 27, 2001. He preceded her in death on December 20, 2012.
Nancy is survived by her children; JoLene Hudson (Larry), Wamego, Brian Brockish, Wamego, and Lisa Sackrider, Manhattan; her grandchildren, Fawn Sackrider (Joseph Haetten), Wamego, Farah Bachman (Mark), Paxico, Dustin Allen, Topeka, Jacob Beatty (Olivia), Wamego, A.J. Allen, Alma, Madison Brockish, Manhattan, and Tori Cook (Tim), Wamego; her great-grandchildren, Nia, Lexi, Walker, Jackson, Eloise, Addison, and Abigail; and her siblings, Larry Post, Jan Zink, and Louis “Dude” Post. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Wiley “Bub” Post and Lonnie Post.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego. A Time of Remembrance will be held at 7:00 p.m. A private family inurnment will be held in Wamego City Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Nancy Capoun Trust for a local memorial to be determined at a later time, and those may be sent in care of the mortuary.
