LC Williams, 77, of Wamego, Kansas, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at the Wamego Health Center. He was a long-time resident of the community.
LC was born on February 2, 1940, in Tallahatchie, Mississippi, the son of Arthur and Beatrice Johnson Williams. He attended local schools and graduated from Swanton High School in Ohio in 1959. LC served in the United States Army for thirty years. He was stationed in Korea, Germany, two tours of Vietnam, and the first Gulf War. In 1993 he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 at Fort Riley.
After his military career, LC worked at Fort Riley as a mechanic for the Kansas State Readiness Sustainment Maintenance site. He retired from there in 2013. LC was a life member of the Black Jack Post 260, American Legion. He loved to bowl, enjoyed going to the casino, watching westerns, game shows, and K-State football. He loved to tinker and take drives in the car. He enjoyed eating Mexican food, bean and bacon soup, fried bologna sandwiches and buffets.
LC married Barbara Ilene Bratton on October 24, 1963, in Swanton, Ohio. She preceded him in death on June 26, 1997.
LC is survived by his daughter; Andrea Irvin (Mike), Junction City; his significant other, Carol Mushero, Manhattan; his grandchildren, Azia McMunn, Ambrozia Williams, Ariezanna Williams and Arianna Williams; his great-grandchildren Joseph, Atreides, Aaron, Kenon and Isela; Carol’s children Shannon and Jennifer and their eight children; his siblings, Frankie, Allie Beatrice, Elinore, Frenchie, Ann, WC, and JC. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his son, Aaron Williams in 1995, a granddaughter, Victricia and daughter-in-law, Leah Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2017, at Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego where the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Pastor Pat Green will be officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Wamego City Cemetery. LC will lie-in-state on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
