Lawrence “Larry” George Perkins, 86, of Westmoreland, Kansas, formerly of Wichita, died Saturday, December 30, 2017, at the Westy Community Care Home.
Larry was born August 14, 1931, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, the son of Bryan and Mary Fields Perkins. He attended local schools and graduated from High School in McPherson. He attended Oklahoma State and then Wichita State, receiving a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Larry worked 28 years as an engineer for Beech Aircraft and then Raytheon. After his retirement he enjoyed working part time for Dillons as a courtesy clerk. He later moved to Westmoreland to be closer to family.
He married Barbara Hunt on February 14, 1992. She survives at their home.
Larry is also survived by his children; Patrick Perkins, Mary Higgs (Brad), Westmoreland, and David Lusk, Wichita; his granddaughter, Kendall Lusk, Manhattan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Perkins.
