Jacquline Kathleen Jontra, 75, of Wheaton, Kansas died Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Community Health Hospital in Onaga. She was a longtime resident of the Wheaton community.
Jacquline was born on September 14, 1942 in Topeka, Kansas. A daughter of John Joseph and Clara Marie Burke Dalton. She attended schools in Wheaton and graduated from Wheaton High School in 1960. She then went to Topeka Technical Collage becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Jackie worked at several nursing homes including Alma, Onaga, St. Mary's Manor and Westy Care Home until she retired. While living in Rossville, in the 1970's, she took in several foster kids. She was known to be a caregiver to the young and the old. Even having a community fridge that she made sure was stocked for anyone in the neighborhood that needed it.
Jackie loved taking care of her house, keeping it clean and inviting. She enjoyed going to auctions and antique stores collecting furniture to fill her home. She had an extensive glass collection including Fenton, Fostoria and Cambridge Rose Point Crystal and Silver set. She also had several Precious Moments figurines. She loved the holidays using the excuse to serve dinner on the "good glass". She and Marlin also had a flower and vegetable garden. She tended to the roses, clematis, peonies, irises and lilies and then canned the vegetables, especially tomatoes from the vegetable garden.
Jacquline married Gerald Wege on August 19, 1961, he preceded her in death on December 14, 1977. She then, Marlin A. Jontra on June 24, 1981 at the Christian Church in Rossville. He survives in their home.
Jackie is also survived by her children Lisa Jones (Mark) Frankfort, Greg Wege (Theresa) Wheaton, and Brad Wege (Linda) Manhattan; her grandchildren Jennifer Schley, John Essman, Michaela Essman, Sarah Abitz (Lance) and Brett Wege; her great-grandchildren Colby, Cadence and Channing Schley and Payten Abitz as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Clarita "Tom" Kennedy in 2007.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Westmoreland Community Center and Playground in Westmoreland, Kansas. Jennifer Woods will be the Celebrant. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Johnson Cancer Research Center at K-State and those may be sent in care of Campanella-Kufahl Funeral Home.
