Jennie Edith Dunlap, 92, of Frankfort, Kansas, died Saturday, January 14, 2012, at the Frankfort Community Care Home. She was a long time resident of the area.
Edith was born August 28, 1919, in Barrett, Kansas, the daughter of Arley Ray and Bertha Crowell Hidy. She attended local schools.
Edith was a homemaker. She also worked for sixteen years and retired from Campbell Soup Company in Humboldt, Nebraska. During the war, She worked for Coleman Lamp Company in Wichita from 1942 until 1945. She was a member of the Frankfort United Methodist Church, the Historical Society and the RSVP, a senior volunteer program. Edith loved to read and enjoyed attending various social functions, especially pot luck dinners.
Edith married Nicholas Nelson Dunlap on December 6, 1941 in Junction City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1975.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Gardner (John), Lincoln, Kansas; her sons, George Dunlap (Pam Dungan), Falls City, Nebraska, Dennis Dunlap (Linda Rush), Humboldt, Nebraska, and John Dunlap ( Becky), Beattie, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Frankfort United Methodist Church. Reverend Norma Jeane Miller will be officiating. A funeral lunch will follow the service and then a procession to Greenwood Cemetery south of Blue Rapids. The family will greet friends on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service.
