Donald Allison Rose, 74, of Louisville, Kansas, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at his home.
Don was born June 2, 1936 in Onaga, Kansas, the son of Albert “Pete” and Leona Kenworthy Rose. He attended local schools. In 1955 he moved to Milford, Ohio, and lived there for several years. In 1976, Don returned to Kansas and settled in Linwood.
Don married Norma Vannoy in 1955. They were later divorced. Don then married Penny Huff Rogers in 1984. She preceded him in death in November of 1992.
He was a heavy equipment mechanic and worked for many years for Cutler Repaving in Lawrence. He served as mayor of Linwood. After his retirement, Don moved to Louisville. While in Louisville, Don was very active in The Sharing Place, helping families, in need, with clothing and household items.
Don is survived by his ex-wife, Norma Rose, Bonner Springs; daughter, Janie Ballard and her husband, Herb, Bonner Springs; sons, Roger Rose and his wife, Terri, Eudora, Don Rose, Linwood, Steve Rose, Linwood, John Rose and his wife, Janice, Bethany, Missouri; step-sons, Craig Rogers and his wife, Liza, Eudora, Brian Rogers, Kentucky, three brothers; four sisters; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Private graveside inurnment services will be held in Louisville Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to The Sharing Place and those may be sent in care of Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego. Online condolences may be made at www.campanellafuneral.com.
